How To Format Nokia 5800 , N97 , X6And Other Symbian 5 Ed. Phones
In this post I will describe the method to format Nokia touch screen phones. All Symbian S60 phones (Including newer 3rd and 5th Edition phones like Nokia 5800XpressMusic, 5530XpressMusic, 5230, 5235, X6 and N97) can be formatted by the so called formatting codes (*#7370# or *#7780#) which I have described in this post. If however the phone is not in a state to enter the codes (Not starting-up or white screen) then follow the steps described below to hard reset it:
1. Nokia 5800XM/5802/5530XM/5230/5233/5235/C6/X6 - Switch-off the phone (Remove the battery and re-insert it, if necessary).
Now Press and HOLD the GREEN (Call) key, RED (Call end) key and the Camera-capture key SIMULTANEOUSLY. While still pressing the above three keys press the power On/Off key, hold them until phone boots up.
2. Nokia N97 and N97 mini – Press and HOLD the left shift key, spacebar key and the back key simultaneously. While still holding the above three keys, press power-on key, hold them until the phone boots-up.
NOTE however that the format will erase all the data in phone memory and you will also lose your free music that came with the phone. Also make sure to fully charge the phone’s battery before the format process.
